As I’ve become more and more involved with HypnoBirthing and natural, gentle birthing and parenting methods, I’ve realized that it’s important to be able to discuss these issues in a warm, supportive environment. I usually avoid these topics as much as possible because someone will usually share a negative experience or comment that ruins the conversation for all involved.
I’ve decided to start a monthly “Mother’s Circle” meeting where women can discuss childbirth, pregnancy, breastfeeding, parenting, and many other related topics in a non-hostile, non-medicalized environment. This will be open to all women, not just those who have taken HypnoBirthing. There will be a few rules for the group:
- Feel free to bring your babies, but please make other arrangements for older children.
- You are always free to breastfeed in the mother’s circle. No need to cover up or leave the room.
- Come prepared to discuss issues in a positive way. No horror stories about birth or other related topics we will be discussing.
- Come with questions! I will do my best to answer your questions and provide as much information as I can. You can even email me your questions before each meeting so I have a chance to research them and provide more information.
- Even if you aren’t interested in participating in the discussion, please feel free to come and listen and soak in the companionship of other women who view birth and parenting in a similar light.
I can’t wait to get started! I already have some fun, interesting things in the works. Please come and bring your friends! Our first meeting will be Friday, October 14th at 10:00 a.m. Email me at fiona@ihypnobirth.com if you need my address. See you there!
